AUSTIN, Texas – Ezekiel Rop punched his ticket to the 1500m national final Wednesday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Rop posted a 3:39.77 and finished third in his semifinal heat to automatically qualify for Friday's final.
The Eldoret, Kenya native was in the front half of the pack for nearly the entire race and held off a pair of late challengers in Villanova's Liam Murphy (3:39.82) and North Carolina's Ethan Strand (3:39.83) for third place in heat one.
Rop posted the eighth-best time across both semifinal heats. Washington's Joe Waskom led both heats with a 3:39.50.
The 1500m final will run Friday at 8:12 p.m.
