Cyclones Compete in Day Two at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa State competed in the final day of multi-events and the distance carnival, continuing action at the Drake Relays.
Kole Becker continued competing in decathlon events and took the discus win with 143-8 (43.79m). Becker also got an event win in the decathlon pole vault with a huge all-time best of 15-5 (4.70m), clearing the bar on his first attempt. It was Becker's first time competing in the pole vault outdoors, while his indoor personal best is 14-1 1/4.
Cooper Spurgeon went out to a new PR in the discus of 130-2 (39.69m). Spurgeon also hit a personal best in the javelin throwing 173-4 (52.83m).
Three women kicked off running events at the Relays in the unseeded 1,500m. Josie Baker led the Cyclones to sixth (4:36.02), while Mya Trober had a season best of 4:38.17. McKinley Wheeler took 10th in 4:55.68.
Day three of the Drake Relays begins at 10 a.m. with the triple jump, while the first running event is the 4x1,600m relays at 11:45 a.m.
