AMES, Iowa – Casey Swiderski has been named the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after securing a top-10 victory in Iowa State's dual against West Virginia last week.
Swiderski pieced together a remarkable come-from-behind win against No. 7 Ty Watters Friday night. In a highly anticipated bout between top-10 wrestlers, a Watters takedown gave the Mountaineer a 4-0 lead with 1:37 left in the match, but Swiderski's torrid pace eventually paid off.
After a quick escape, Swiderski secured a takedown with 15 seconds remaining in the third period to tie the match and put on a tough ride to force sudden victory. Much the aggressor, the Michigan native earned the winning takedown on a beautiful ankle pick to earn a 7-4 decision.

Since returning from a knee injury, Swiderski is 3-0 with all three victories coming against ranked opponents.
Iowa State wrestling is back in action Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. against No. 18 Northern Iowa inside Hilton Colesium.
