AZUSA, California – Cyclones ran in the 1,500m to close out the Bryan Clay Invite turning in numerous personal records. The Cyclones wrap up the weekend at Bryan Clay and Jim Duncan with 10 top 10-ranked Iowa State performances.
Ezekiel Rop cut time off his 1,500m season best and came less than two seconds off his school record clocking 3:38.18 in the invitational. Rop finished 10th overall and as the seventh-fastest collegian among the field of 148. Former Cyclone and current pro Festus Lagat took seventh in 3:36.68.
Janette Schraft downed her 2021 personal record in the invite 1,500, trimming exactly five seconds off to post 4:18.97. Schraft, who broke her own steeplechase school record two weeks ago, put up an Iowa State all-time performance now ranking at No. 5.
Also running in the invitational heats, freshman Devan Kipyego put up a dominant best of 3:43.94, placing fourth in his heat. Silas Winders also hit a PR in the men's race, while Madelynn Hill and Riley Beach also hit bests for the women.
Next week, Iowa State heads to Arkansas, the site of NCAA West Prelims, for the John McDonnell Invite April 19-20.
