IRVING, Texas – A pair of Iowa State women's golfers earned All-Big 12 honors, announced by the league on Friday. Senior Liyana Durisic earned the honor for the first time, while sophomore Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn has been named to the team for the second-straight year. It marks the ninth time in program history that multiple players have been named to an all-conference team in the same season.
The duo shared the Big 12 Championship crown, marking the first time in Big 12 history that a pair of teammates stood together at the top of the standings and just the fourth time in league history that a team had the top two finishers in the standings. Iowa State, UCF and Texas were the only schools to have multiple players on the 11 member All-Big 12 Team.
Chul-Ak-Sorn is just the seventh player in program history to earn multiple all-conference honors and just the fifth since joining the Big 12 Conference. She is the first player to have multiple All-Big 12 honors for Iowa State since Celia Barquin Arozamena and Chayanit Wangmahaporn in 2018. In 33 rounds this season, Chul-Ak-Sorn averaged 71.85 strokes, the second-lowest in school history behind her 70.56 last season. Her career average of 71.24 is the best in program history. In addition to her Big 12 title, she also finished in a tie for eighth at the Mountainview Intercollegiate.
Durisic had an average of 72.64 in 33 rounds this season, the second-best of her career behind a 72.26 last season. Her 72.64 is the fifth-best average in program history, while she graduates with a 72.78 career stroke average, the second-best in program history behind Chul-Ak-Sorn. Her two victories in her career (2021 Wolverine Invite) are tied for the second-most in program history, while her 143 career rounds played are the second-most in program history behind former teammate Taglao Jeeravivitaporn's 152. Down the stretch of her final season, she turned in three-straight top-five finishes before concluding her career with a 12th place finish at the NCAA Bryan Regional.
