AMES, Iowa – The CSC (College Sports Communicators) announced the Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Team with a trio of Cyclones earning their placement on teams.
This totals seven Cyclones earning Academic All-America status in 2023-24, as it was announced yesterday four women earned the honor. Seven is the second-most in the nation, one behind the top total of eight held by Stanford.
The duo of Finley Mclear and Gable Sieperda both were selected as First Team members, making ISU one of three in the nation (Stanford, Nebraska) to have more than one earn the highest distinction on the men's side.
Finley Mclear, a four-time First Team All-American in the 800m, picks up his first Academic All-America nod. Gable Sieperda earns his second honor after earning Second Team in 2022-23. Both Mclear (800m) and Sieperda (Steeple) took bronze medals at 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Quinton Orr earned his spot on Academic All-America Second Team. It is Orr's second honor as he earned Third Team honors last season.
Student-athletes picked up the honor after moving onto the national ballot from earning Academic All-District honors. All-District honorees hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher while participating in at least 50 percent of competitions.
