Cyclones In Fifth After Day 1 of Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cyclones finish in fifth after the first two rounds at the Bearcat Invitational on Monday, with Paul Beauvy and Luke Gutschewski placing in the top-10. Beauvy shot a 140, while Gutschewski was right behind him with a 141 going into the final round. As a team, the Cyclones carded a 573 (284-289) in the opening two rounds.

Beauvy started things off with a 68 in the first round, which included four birdies. It was the twelfth sub-70 round in his career, and he followed it up with a 72 in the second round, with two birdies. Beauvy was flirting with the top-5 for most of the day, but ended up just outside as he finished tied for sixth.

Gutschewski carded a 69 in the first round and a 72 in the second round. He tallied nine birdies on the day, with five coming in the first and four in the second, helping Gutschewski finish in a tie for ninth.

Owen Sawyer is tied for 30th, carding a 145 on the day, which included six birdies. Sawyer was steady and shot a 73 in the first round and 72 in the second round. Luke Metcalf is tied for 52nd after two rounds with a 147, with four birdies on the day. Metcalf shot a 74 in the first round and a 73 in the second.

Zach May finished the day tied for 70th with a score of 149. May shot a 75 in the first round and a 74 in the second round, tallying two birdies on the day.

Playing as an individual, Dianchao Wu is tied for 52nd. He had one birdie in the opening round and three birdies in the second round.

Louisville leads the team race with a 562, holding a four stroke lead over Kansas. Louisville's Sebastian Moss has the individual lead with a 134 after the first two rounds.

The third and final round will be played Tuesday morning at Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
