The 2024 Cyclones

Christy Johnson-Lynch continues her 20th season leading Iowa State, a program she has transformed. Johnson-Lynch holds 375 career victories (.647 winning percentage), with 203 of those being Big 12 wins to rank fourth in all-time conference history. Iowa State totals 10 20-win seasons under Johnson-Lynch, including the past two seasons.

Morgan Brandt hit the milestone of 2,000 career assists, becoming the 12^th in Iowa State history to total the mark. Brandt currently holds 2,066.

Against Iowa, Iowa State won 3-1 and took the third straight win in the series and 32^nd in series history. Nayeli Gonzalez put on a show with 18 kills (4.5 per set) at a career-high .483 hitting percentage. Iowa State hit at .407 through the match, making for the 16^th time ISU has hit .400 or above under Johnson-Lynch.

The Opponent

ISU will meet Colgate for the first time and Syracuse for the sixth time in series history. Colgate has made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, earning automatic bids after taking the Patriot League title. Colgate is led by Abby Shadwick who totals 117 kills at 3.44 per set (.270 hitting percentage) on the season.

Iowa State last met Syracuse Sept. 10, 2021 where the Cyclones won in five. Syracuse is currently one of 16 undefeated teams in the nation, and one of just three to have only lost three sets this season. Outside hitter Ava Palm leads the Orange with 118 kills, averaging 3.93 per set. Syracuse currently ranks second in the nation holding opponents to .098 hitting, and eighth averaging 2.30 aces per set.
