Leading Off: Iowa State will wrap up its trip to the Beehive State Monday afternoon, when it competes in the Wasatch Classic. The multi-team meet features not only the Cyclones, but also includes No. 27 Boise State, No. 33 Arizona State and San Jose State.
The Cyclones will look to build on a season-high floor score at No. 4 Utah as well as a beam lineup that tied the program's season best. Monday's meet will feature ISU gymnast Hannah Loyim competing against her twin sister Emma who competes at Boise State.
Arizona State has not competed in a week, while both San Jose State and Boise State come into the meet like Iowa State – having lost on the road Friday night. The Broncos fell to nationally-ranked Georgia, while SJSU also fell to a nationally-ranked school in Oregon State.
Storylines:
- Iowa State's freshmen have impressed in limited opportunities so far this season.
- Haylee Hardin claimed a floor title against Brown/Iowa, the first of her career.
- Hardin again led the Cyclones on floor at Utah.
- Rachel Goldstein made her collegiate debut at Utah, competing on bars.
- Frederique Sgarbossa had a top-three finish against LSU in the opener.
- She made her debut on vault at Utah.
- ISU ranks highly in vault (17) and beam (22).
- All five Cyclone newcomers have competed this season.
- Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa has led the team in vault scoring in each meet so far.
- A testament to her heard work and improvement, Bergstrom-Te Slaa now competes all-around for the Cyclones after starting off as an event specialist in college.
- A short-handed Iowa State recorded its lowest score of the Ashley Miles Greig tenure in the season-opener at LSU.

- Iowa State returned 10 gymnasts from last year's squad that made the largest improvement in the country.
- ISU added four freshmen and one transfer for a team of 15.
- Both Noelle Adams and Bergstrom-Te Slaa were named to the Big 12 Preseason Gymnastics team.
- Iowa State's 10 victories this season are tied for the most since it won 20 in 2018.
- Sophomore Noelle Adams claimed 14 event titles last year in her freshman campaign. Those 14 titles were the third-most in program history by a first-year gymnast.
- As a team, ISU claimed 17 event titles last season.
- 2025 will mark the first year that Iowa State competes in a conference schedule, as the additions of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah put the conference at seven teams.
Switching Sides to Arizona State:
- Arizona State will be competing in just its second meet of the season on Monday.
- In their lone other meet, ASU scored a 194.750.
- The Gym Devils have three gymnasts on the 2025 Big 12 Preseason Team. Graduate Jada Mangahas received a nod in the all-around, graduate Sarah Clark is on the beam team and graduate Emily White is honored for both beam and floor.
- The Sun Devils are ranked highly in vault (22) and bars (23).
- Jay Santos coaches the team in his ninth season … he has a 54-58-2 all-time record with Arizona State.
Switching Sides to Boise State:
- Boise State is coached by Tina Bird who is in her 36th season coaching with the Broncos.
- Bird won the 2024 MW Head Coach of the Year.
- She has an all-time record of 267-112-2.
- Boise State is No. 27 in the RoadToNationals team all-around rankings, marking the first time this season that they have been within the top 30. The Broncos sit 21st and 22nd nationally in beam and floor, respectively.
- Emma Loyim holds the highest individual ranking of the team as she is tied-27th nationally on floor.
- Loyim earned her sixth-career Mountain West Specialist of the Week award and fourth that recognizes her performance on floor this week.
Switching Sides to San Jose State:
- 0-2 so far this season, the Spartans will look to earn their first win of the year on Monday.
- SJSU ranks 46th in RTN, but has a strong vault squad.
- Its vault is tied for 17th with Iowa State.
- SJSU will look to break the 194 mark on Monday for the first time this season.
