AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Anna Supapitch Kuearum has been named Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Cyclones to a 2-0 record last week that included a win against Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
Kuearum earns the honor for just the ninth time in program history. She's just the seventh student-athlete in program history to be recognized.
Kuearum, a senior from Bangkok, Thailand, finished the week 4-0 overall, highlighted by a come-from-behind win against No. 113 Daianne Hayashida, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0. The nation's No. 70-ranked player improved to 4-0 in her singles career against Iowa. She also helped the Cyclones clinch the doubles point with a win at No. 1 doubles alongside Cristina Ramos Sierra.
She didn't miss a beat against Wyoming on Sunday, cruising in doubles action 6-2 and then beating the Cowgirls' Violette Borodina, 6-2, 6-3, to increase her winning streak to five matches.
Kuearum and the Cyclones return to action Friday at Illinois at 4 p.m.
