CARLSBAD, Calif. - The Iowa State women's golf team opened play Friday at the 2025 NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. The No. 29 Cyclones are in 28th place after the opening round, shooting a 306 (+18) in the first round.
Sophomore Keeley Marx led the Cyclones after the opening round, as she shot a 75 (+3) to sit in 78th place. Marx finished the round with three birdies, including a pair on the front nine.Â
Freshman Alexandra Vidal had a pair of birdies, as she is in 98th place with a four-over 76. She had a birdie on the front and the back nine.
Junior Pammy Chookaew is in 111th place after a first round 77 (+5). Chookaew had a birdie on the par four 14.
Freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon and junior Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn are tied for 123rd after the opening round, as they each shot a six-over 78. Pinprayoon had a pair of birdies, while Chul-Ak-Sorn had one on the front nine.Â
No. 24 Vanderbilt has the lead after the opening round, as they are six strokes under par. No. 25 Oklahoma State is the only other team under par, as the Cowgirls are four-under par. Tennessee's Bailey Davis has the individual stroke lead after the opening round at five-under par.
The second round is Saturday, with the Cyclones teeing off in the second wave starting at 2:45 p.m. (CT).
