Iowa State has been selected to its 24th NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament as the No. 8 seed in Fort Worth Region 1. The Cyclones will match up with No. 9-seed Syracuse in the first round in Storrs.
FOUR THINGS
3 – Iowa State is the only Big 12 program to have three different players named the league's Player of the Week this season (Addy Brown, Audi Crooks, Jada Williams).
4 – Iowa State junior Addy Brown recorded the fourth triple-double in program history against Norfolk State (Nov. 16), tallying 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. It marks the first time in over a decade that a Cyclone achieved the feat.
11 – The Cyclones have the 11th-best scoring average in NCAA Division I women's basketball, averaging 82.3 points per game through 31 contests.
97 – Audi Crooks has scored in double figures in 97 straight games. It marks the longest streak by a Cyclone women's basketball player and longest active streak in NCAA women's basketball. Crooks also holds the longest streak by a Big 12 women's basketball player since Brittney Griner's 116-game run from 2010-2013.
SERIES NOTES
Saturday's NCAA First Round matchup marks the third time in series history that Iowa State and Syracuse will face off. In the 207 NCAA Tournament, the Cyclones and the Orange also competed in Storrs with SU taking the 85-65 victory into the second round. ISU previously met the Orange in Las Vegas in 2023-24 for the Thanksgiving South Point Shootout.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State fell to Arizona State in the Big 12 Tournament Second Round on March 5. Audi Crooks led ISU with 21 points and was joined in double figures by Addy Brown (13), Kenzie Hare (12) and Jada Williams (11). Brown also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. The Cyclones only managed to finish 7-of-36 from 3-point range while ASU shot nearly 43 percent from the floor and over 46 percent from deep.
CYCLONES EARN POSTSEASON RECOGNITION
Several Cyclones have earned postseason honors from the Big 12 Conference and a variety of national organizations. Audi Crooks (unanimous) and Jada Williams were selected by league coaches as First Team All-Big 12 honorees while Arianna Jackson was voted the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Jackson is the first Cyclone to earn the honor.
Crooks and Williams were announced as two of 48 WBCA All-America Regional Finalists earlier this week. Crooks has been named Second Team All-America by the Associated Press, US Basketball Writers Association and The Sporting News.
REIGNING FROM THREE
Iowa State is historically one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country. ISU has averaged 8.4 triples per contest this season, ranking 29th nationally and fourth in the Big 12. Addy Brown (123), Kenzie Hare (209), Sydney Harris (225), Arianna Jackson (143) and Jada Williams (122) each own at least 100 career makes from beyond the arc. The Cyclones have hit 200 or more 3-pointers in a season 23-straight seasons, which is an NCAA record. ISU 3-point specialists Hare and Jackson are two of 33 women's basketball players from major conferences (Big 12, ACC, Big East, Big Ten, SEC) and two of five from the Big 12 to have seven or more games this season with 3-point field goal percentages of .600-plus (min. two 3FGA).
