AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Women's Golf team is set to compete in the NCAA National Championships Friday-Wednesday at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa - North Course in Carlsbad, Calif.
THE LEAD
For the second-straight year, and third time in program history, the Iowa State women's golf team is set to compete in the NCAA Championships. With finishes of 22nd (2025) and 23rd (2014), the Cyclonitas enter the NCAA Championships as the No. 13 seed in the field. A Big 12 record six teams will compete in the final event of the year, tying the league record set last season. ISU is the highest ranked among the six Big 12 schools.
COURSE INFORMATION
Located just north of San Diego in Carlsbad, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's golf courses and facilities are among the best in Southern California. The course will host the NCAA Men's and Women's Championships from 2024 to 2028. It has twice been named a Top 100 course in the country. The North Course, redesigned by Gil Hanse, the course has been restored to its original glory and offers six sets of tees creating flexibility to play from 4,500 to 7,500 yards in order to accommodate players of all skill levels.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The 30 teams will play 18 holes of stroke play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Top 15 teams, along with the top nine individuals from non-advancing teams, will advance to Monday's final round of stroke play to determine the 72-hole National Champion. The Top 8 teams will then advance to match play on Tuesday and Wednesday. Iowa State enters the tournament as the No. 13 seed overall, with Nichakorn Pinprayoon (No. 38) and Pammy Chookaew (No. 54) both being ranked in the Top 60 in the country heading into the event.
TEE TIMES
Iowa State will be in the afternoon wave on Friday, teeing off between 3:40-4:24 p.m. (CT). The Cyclonitas move to the morning wave on Saturday, with tee times between 10:20-11:04 a.m. (CT). Sunday's tee times will start at 8:30 a.m. (CT) and will be determined by place after the first two rounds. Monday's final round of stroke play will start with tee times at 12:30 p.m. (CT). Tuesday's match play quarterfinals will start at 8:50 a.m. (CT), with the semifinals set for 3:15 p.m. (CT). The National Championship match is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State is coming off its second-straight NCAA Regional Top 5 finish, as the Cyclonitas tied for fourth at the NCAA Louisville Regional.
-The Cyclones shot an 855 over the 54 holes at the NCAA Louisville Regional, the best 54-hole NCAA score in school history.
-Led by Nichakorn Pinprayoon's 214, all five Cyclones Top 10 NCAA 54-hole scores in school history at 217 or lower.
-Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (73.7) and Pammy Chookaew (73.9) are among seven players in school history that have played 15 rounds or more in NCAA Play. Their stroke averages are among the top five in school history among players with double digit rounds.
-Iowa State won its first Big 12 Championship in program history this year, with two Cyclones placing in the top 10.
-Pinprayoon got her third win of the season, as she became the fourth Cyclone to earn medalist honors at the Big 12 Championship. Chookaew finished eighth, as she became the seventh Cyclone to earn All-Tournament Team honors multiple times in her career.
-ISU's 16-year streak of making an NCAA Regional is the third-longest in the Big 12 and the 15th-longest in the country. Arizona and Arizona State lead the country with 33-straight appearances.
-The Cyclones have faced 24 of the 29 other schools competing at the NCAA Championships, holding a 22-20-4 record against them this season.
-Head Coach Christie Martens was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second time in her career, as she also earned the honor in 2011.
-Pinprayoon (2nd - 71.22), Chookaew (3rd - 71.44) and Chul-Ak-Sorn (8th - 72.64) find themselves in the Top 10 in school history in single-season stroke average.
