BALTIMORE – Iowa State (4-2-2, 0-0 Big 12) concluded non-conference action Thursday evening, playing to a 1-1 draw against Loyola Maryland (0-1-6, 0-0 Patriot League) on the road.

The match got off to a raucous start, as the Greyhounds struck first at the 4:05 mark off a banger from Savannah Manset. The goal was Loyola's first since August 16. ISU answered right back, as Sophie Forrester converted a slick feed from Makenna Marshall to knot things up just 20 seconds later. The teams would go scoreless from there, though, as ISU finished with its second draw of the season.

Forrester became the third Cyclone to attain multiple goals this season, tying both Megan Walters and Alaina Villa for the team lead. Marshall meanwhile is now the third Cyclone to tally multiple assists. Maia Soulis and Erin Hopewell played the full 90 minutes for ISU, with both Cassidy Corcione and Alaina Villa leading in shots (4). Eme McClenahan collected a pair of saves in the draw.

Manset became the third Greyhound to record a goal this season, converting one score on three attempts – a team high. Ella Moss is just the second Loyola athlete to record an assist, feeding Manset's score. Geneve Pouliot was the only fielder to play the full 90 for LUM, joining keeper Hannah Goetzer as players who didn't leave the pitch. Goetzer finished with six saves, having faced 18 shots.

The Cyclones held an 18-9 shot advantage over Loyola, as well as a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Goetzer and the Greyhounds had more saves, 6-2, and the Cyclones committed more fouls, 9-8.

How it Happened
The very first shot of the evening went in in the fifth minute, as Loyola's Savannah Manset scored from just outside the box to get past the outstretched hands of McClenahan. ISU controlled the ensuing kickoff, and after some smooth moves from Makenna Marshall, the ball found the foot of Sophie Forrester, who answered LUM's score with one of her own just 20 seconds later to tie things up.

After a few more early attempts from each side, no shots were taken until the 30-minute mark, when a pair of Morgan Goodman tries missed the mark. ISU kept up the pressure, attempting to more shots in the final handful of minutes but would head into the break tied at one apiece.

At the half, ISU had six shots to Loyola's four. Neither side was able to draw a corner kick, and ISU had two saves to LUM's one.

The Cyclones came out in the second half as the aggressors, attempting 12 shots to Loyola's five. ISU, though, was unable to get a handful of quality looks past Goetzer who snuffed out all five shots that came on goal to keep the game knotted.

The Cyclones would go on to draw Loyola in the teams' first-ever meeting and first of two games on the East Coast this year.
