Kicking Off
Iowa State returns to the confines of the Cyclone Sports Complex to welcome its second ranked opponent of the season to Ames. ISU will look to earn its first-ever win or draw against West Virginia and avoid moving to 0-3 in Big 12 play for the first time since 2023.
Iowa State enters Sunday's contest coming off a one-game road trip to Houston where it fell to the Cougars, 2-1. Lucy Froitzheim scored her first goal of the season in the loss, while Eme McClenahan logged her second-most saves with seven.
West Virginia comes to Ames looking for its first conference win of the Big 12 season. The Mountaineers fought No. 12 Baylor to a 1-1 draw in the conference opener before falling to No. 13 Colorado on the road, 2-0.

Through ten outings, Morgan Goodman leads all Cyclones in points with six, holding a team-high four assists. Alaina Villa, Megan Walters and Sophie Forrester are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece. Erin Hopewell leads the team in minutes played (797), while Forrester leads in shots (19).
Eme McClenahan has started all the contests between the pipes for ISU. The redshirt freshman has three clean sheets and a pair of combined shutouts to her name this year. She has 34 saves so far, tallying a career-high 10 saves against Iowa.
Overall, the Cyclones have scored 14 goals and allowed 8 through ten contests. The team has 135 total shots, averaging 13.5 per contest, and has placed 37.8% of them on goal.
Opponent Outlook
West Virginia has just 11 goals this season, tying for the second fewest in the Big 12. Sophia Nickel leads all Mountaineers with three goals and has a team-high seven goals. Anna Hauer has been the team's best playmaker, tallying a team-best three assists. Â
