Ryan Gilles was named the Iowa State Director of Softball Operations in September 2021. Gilles arrives in Ames after spending the last two years at Belmont as the director of baseball operations.

During his time at Belmont he handled day-to-day operations and all travel arrangements for the Bruins. Prior to going to Belmont, Gilles was the head softball coach at Aquinas (Wis.) High School, where he also was the assistant activities director and a physical education teacher. Gilles led the Blugolds to the 2018 Mississippi Valley Conference championship.

Gilles also served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Viterbo for four years. While in Nashville, Gilles worked for the Tennessee Titans as a sponsorship and marketing intern and with the Nashville Predators as a guest services intern.

Gilles graduated with a Bachelors of Exercise Sports Science-Fitness from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016, while also receiving a Masters of Sports Administration degree from Belmont.
