Redshirted his initial season at Iowa State... wrestled to a 12-9 record while competing unattached... finished fifth-place at the Grand View Open... posted a 6-2 record en route to his fifth-place finish... pinned William Penn's Wesley Yoder in 2:09 at the William Penn Open... started off his career with a 22-6 technical fall over Minnesota State's Jeremy Kelly.

First four-time state tournament place-winner in Bettendorf High School history… went 31-5 and took fourth at 125 pounds as a freshman… went 25-7 and finished fifth at 135 pounds as a sophomore… took third at 145 pounds as a junior… finished his senior season on top in 2013, wining the class 3-A state championship at 145 pounds… compiled a career record of 142-25 and holds school records for most takedowns (561), major decisions (21), team points (666), match points (1,487) and career wins (142)… 2013 USA All-American… also excelled on the gridiron… rushed for 1,370 yards and scored 18 touchdowns as a senior, earning him first-team all-conference honors and third-team all-state honors... Quad-City Times 2013 Male Athlete of the Year.
