Ben Durbin is in his sixth season as Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning coach. Durbin’s primary sports are Wrestling, Gymnastics, and Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and T&F middle distance. Designing and implementing all strength and conditioning regimens for each respective sport. Over the last five years Durbin’s teams have produced three National Champions, numerous All Americans, and team Top 5, Top 10, and Top 25 national finishes.

Prior to arriving at Iowa State Ben was the founder and co-owner of Premier Athlete Training, a company that, since established in 2015, serves over one thousand athletes yearly including Professional, Olympic, Collegiate, HS & MS athletes of all sports.
Ben is a former football player for both the University of Wyoming and Iowa State University where he played defensive end and defensive tackle. The two-school letter-winner played in a total of 39 games, including three bowl games, ending his career with 51 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, and 4 sacks.
On the wrestling mat, Durbin was a 2018 US Open medal winner and has finished on the podium at several world-level competitions, including a runner-up finish at the 2018 Cerro Pelada in Havana, Cuba. He also earned a bronze medal at the Dave Schultz international at the US Olympic Training Center, ranking him as high as 8th in the USA heavyweight freestyle division.
A native of Gilbert, Iowa, Ben earned his undergraduate from the University of Wyoming and his Master’s in Higher Education from Iowa State University.
Ben is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and USAW Level 1.
