AMES, Iowa - Iowa State swimmer Sam Dyshaw has been invited to compete at the 2004 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships hosted at Texas A&M on March 18-20.
A senior from Montevideo, Minn., Dyshaw qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50 freestyle by swimming the 31st fastest time nationally (22.98). She will also compete in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle events which she had provisional qualifying times. This is Dyshaw's second consecutive NCAA appearance.
Dyshaw was apart of two ISU record-setting efforts at the 2004 Big 12 Championships Feb. 25-27 in Austin, Texas. She broke her own ISU 50 freestyle mark of 23.01 she set at last year's Big 12 Championships on the second day of the 2004 league meet with a 22.98 clocking and a second-place finish. She later joined teammates Kim Schmugge, Petra Plaminkova and Brita Benson in swimming a school-record time of 1:42.78 in the 200 medley relay, placing fourth.
