No. 10 Texas Beats ISU Soccer, 4-1

AUSTIN, Texas- The Iowa State soccer team tallied a goal against No. 10 Texas but could not get past the Longhorns, falling 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Myers Stadium. The Iowa State goal, a blast from 25 yards out, was scored by freshman Lauren Odino off a pass from senior Jess Villhauer. The goal was Odino's fourth of the season and cut the Texas lead to 3-1. The Longhorns scored four minutes later to put the match out of reach.

ISU fell to 6-13 on the season overall and 2-7 in the Big 12. Texas improved to 14-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in league play.

Despite a strong second half effort, the Cyclones were out shot 26-9 in the contest.

Texas took a 2-0 lead at intermission off first-half goals by Amy Burlingham and Kelsey Carpenter. In the second period of play, Emily Anderson and Stephanie Logterman tacked on two final Longhorn goals.

Ann Gleason had an eight save effort for the Cyclones and Leslie Hill led the ISU offense in shots with two.

“We played a lot better in the second half,” said head coach Rebecca Hornbacher. "We had a goal but we had some scoring opportunities that we didn't finish as well.”

Iowa State finishes out the regular season facing Big 12 foe Missouri (1-8-0 in the Big 12) at the ISU Soccer Complex on Friday. The last home match of the season kicks off at 7 p.m.
