Lawrence, Kan. ? Karly Pinder and Christi Athas recorded top-10 finishes as the Iowa State women's golfers ended competition at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational Tuesday in eighth place. The Cyclones recorded their lowest score of the tournament, a third-round total of 312, but finished two strokes behind seventh-place Kansas State. The University of Kansas captured the team title in convincing fashion with a three-round score of 917, 14 strokes ahead of Notre Dame. Anita Ojeda (Arkansas-Little Rock) earned medalist honors as the Trojans placed third.

Pinder and Athas were tied for 12^th after Monday's competition but heated up in the final round, shooting a 76 and 77. Pinder's ninth-place finish is the best of her career and the junior improved from her 31^st place finish at the Lady Badger Invitational.

Athas tied for 10^th with two other competitors as the senior registered her first top-10 finish this season.

Freshman Pennapa Pulsawath along with Pinder shot ISU's lowest third-round, carding a 76. Pulsawath finished tied for 14^th and just missed out on her second top-10 finish in as many events in her young career.

Kendra Hanson shot her best round of the two-day event with an 83 and finished in 65^th while Jessica Shin scored an 84 on her way to a tie for 50^th.
