Tran Named Big 12 Diver of the Week

AMES, Iowa ? Freshman Tien Tran was honored as Big 12 Diver of the week for her performance at the Minnesota Invitational on November 17^th-19^th.

Tran, a native of Greenwood, Ind., competed on all three days of the meet for the Cyclones and captured top ten finishes in every event in which she participated. On day one she claimed third place in the 3-meter diving event with a final score of 269.05. Tran also placed fifth in the 1-meter (248.25) and eighth in the platform (187.80) to help the Cyclones to a seventh place finish.

On the year, Tran has accumulated six first place finishes and qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in the 3-meter event when she posted a season best score of 288.37 against South Dakota State. Her season best in the 1-meter diving event is 256.80 which she accomplished against Nebraska-Omaha.

Tran will be back in competition this weekend as the Cyclones host intrastate rival Northern Iowa at Beyer Hall Pool at 1 p.m.
