AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's and women's track and field teams finished a weekend full of competition with seniors Erica Lynn and David Rotich leading the way for the Cyclones.
Lynn, an Ames, Iowa native, captured the women's high jump and long jump titles to highlight the Tom Botts Invitational for the Iowa State women's track team. Lynn won the high jump with the height of 5-07 and had a leap of 19-02, a new personal record for Lynn, to take the win in the long jump.
Three time All-American Ada Anderson returned to the track this weekend with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run. Anderson finished with a time of 2:09.22, her best of the season, behind rival Ashley Patten of the University of Missouri who won the race with a time of 2:08.37.
"We had some really outstanding performances from a lot of the girls," said sprints and hurdles coach Scott Roberts. "We had a lot of personal records which we're really glad to see."
Rotich led the men's track and field teams at the Pomona Pitzer Invitational by taking the men's 800-meter run. Rotich won the event with a time of 1:48.07, his best of the season.
Cyclone Dan Taylor opened up the season with a second place finish in the 5000-meter run. His time of 14:17.34 is a new personal record for Taylor. Kellen Burl also had a strong day for Iowa State when he tied for second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.61.
