Cyclone Golfer Christi Athas Advances To Sectional Round Of U.S. Women's Open Qualifying

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State junior golfer Christi Athas tied for second at the U.S. Women's Open local qualifier at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minn. Athas, a native of Eldora, Iowa, shot a 79 to advance to the sectional qualifying round in June.
Athas just finished her third season with the Cyclones where she led the squad in stroke average at 77.43. She qualified for match play competition in both the USGA Women's Publinks and the U.S. Women's Amateur in 2005.
