AMES, Iowa ? A week after hosting the Big 12 Relays, Iowa State will take to the road for the first time this year as they travel to Brookings, S.D., to take on South Dakota State. Competition is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 at HPER Center Pool.
The Cyclones are coming off a sixth place finish at the Big 12 Relays last Friday and will enter the meet with a 0-1 record after suffering a 104-177 defeat at the hands of Texas A&M last Saturday.
Iowa State will look to sophomore diver Tien Tran to lead the way. Tran combined with junior Kali Fryklund to finish fourth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the Big 12 Relays, while taking first individually in both events against Texas A&M.
Marni Benson and Abby Glaser are both coming off strong showings against the Aggies and will be vital to the Cyclones' success. Benson earned a third place finish in the 100 breast recording a time of 1:06.26. Glaser, an all-Big 12 performer, also placed third in the 100 fly with a time of 58.43.
South Dakota State also enters the contest 0-1 after losing last Saturday to Nebraska, who edged out the Cyclones for fifth place at the Big 12 Relays.
Following the dual with the Jackrabbits, Iowa State will be off until mid-November when they compete in the Nebraska Invitational on Nov. 15-18.
