Divers Have Strong Showing Against Alabama

HOUSTON, Texas ? Kali Fryklund qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships with a first-place finish on the 1-meter board on Friday as Iowa State competed against Alabama to wrap up its week long training trip at the University of Houston.
Fryklund, a junior from Eden Prairie, Minn., qualified for zones by scoring a 269.70 on the 1-meter, placing ahead of teammate Abby Christenson's second place score of 190.40. Frkylund's score ranks ninth all-time at Iowa State.
On the 3-meter, Tien Tran continued to roll grabbing first place with a 298.45. Alabama's Lauren Dunn finished second with a 244.10. Tran's score is the fourth best in school history.
The Cyclones will return to action Jan. 18 when they host St. Olaf.
