AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State swimming and diving head coach Duane Sorenson recently announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2008-09 season. The Cyclones will add three swimmers and two divers to next years squad.
"We're very excided that we have signed three outstanding swimmers and two talented divers this fall,” said head coach Duane Sorenson. “Meredith (Doran) will step in right away and help us in the middle distance freestyle races. Hannah (McCulley) is a tremendous 200 butterfly swimmer and Danielle (Levings) has tremendous potential in all of the backstroke races.
“Jennifer (Botsch) is an outstanding diver on both one and three meter and Sarah (Nelson) just finished up her high school season by taking third place on the one meter board at the Iowa High Girls High School state meet. Both will give us added depth in all of the diving events."
Iowa State will return a solid group of athletes, including juniors Lindsay Wegner and Marni Benson, sophomores Tien Tran, Frances Calzada and Lindsey Behrens and a very talented group of freshman.
