NEWTON, Iowa ? The Iowa State wrestling team has jumped to No. 2 in the latest W.I.N. Magazine rankings after upending previously second-rated Missouri 27-12 Sunday in Columbia, Mo. Big 12 Wrestler of the Week, Kurt Backes, highlighted the victory by pinning previously unbeaten Max Askren in 3:11 at 197 pounds. The Cyclones also defeated Rider Friday, 38-6 in Ames. With the two wins, Iowa State improves to 11-3 this season and finishes 5-0 against Big 12 schools. It is the first time Iowa State has gone undefeated against all the other league schools since the 1981-82 season.

Iowa State will conclude its dual meet schedule this weekend, traveling to Blacksburg, Va., to take on Virginia Tech Friday at 6 p.m. CST and to Charlottesville, Va., to face Virginia Sunday at 11 a.m. CST. Check out cyclones.com for live weight-by-weight updates during both duals.
