Pinder Earns Third Top-10 Finish

TUCSON, Ariz. ? Karly Pinder climbed up the standings to garner her third career top-10 finish as the Iowa State women's golf team wrapped up play at the Mountainview Collegiate Sunday morning. The Cyclones registered a third-round total of 298 and finished ninth in a deep 16-team field. Nebraska captured the team title while Indiana's Elaine Harris separated herself from a first-day tie against Oklahoma Kendall Dye to claim medalist honors.

Four starters finished with their best 54-hole tournament scores this season as ISU bettered their previous season-best team score in all three rounds. The Cyclones finished ahead of Big 12 competitors Kansas State, host Colorado, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

Pinder recorded a season-low tournament total with a three-round score of 217, one stroke better than her fifth-place showing at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. The junior was tied for 14th after Saturday's two rounds and racked up ISU's best finish for the fourth time in eight tries.

Freshman Pennapa Pulsawath shot a career-best event score of 221, concluding with a final score of 74 and placed in a tie for 28th. Pulsawath still leads the team in scoring average as a freshman and her previous best tournament total came at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 225.

Jessica Shin, tied for eighth at the end of Saturday's competition, fired a final round of 79 to also finish with her best tournament score this year, a 222. Christi Athas quietly improved her event totals every round, closing out on a strong note with a 73, her lowest round of the spring by two strokes. Kendra Hanson put together her best showing of the year, finishing with a three-round total of 235.

Iowa State next competes at the Indiana Invitational April 9-10.
