AMES, Iowa -- Ines Fischer, who was the Iowa prep Class 4-A runner-up in four events for Clinton at the 2005 Iowa girls state track meet, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Iowa State this fall. Fischer was a foreign exchange student at Clinton in 2005. She finished second in the Class 4-A 100-meter hurdle final to former Burlington high schooler and current Iowa Stater Jenna Caffrey. Fischer, a native of Berlin, Germany, also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles, the long jump and ran on the runner-up River Queens' shuttle hurdle relay at the 2005 state meet.
"We saw Ines when she attended Clinton and we were impressed," Iowa State hurdles coach Scott Roberts said. "We see her as a 400-meter hurdler and 800-meter runner at Iowa State. It will be nice to have both her and Jenna on the same team."
The versatile Fischer owns bests of 2:11.0 in the 800-meters, 1:01.45 in the 400-meter hurdles and 18-7 in the long jump.
