Cyclones Head West To The Rockies
AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State women's golf team travels to Highlands Ranch, Colo. to play in the Ron Moore Invitational, Sept. 17-18. The University of Denver will be the tournament host of the 18-team, 54-hole tournament. The Cyclones will get an early look at Big 12 competition, as six other Big 12 teams will be competing. The tournament will get underway Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's third and final 18-hole-round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Iowa State placed three individuals in the top-five at last week's Badger Invitational. Senior Kendra Hanson took home medalist honors after the third and final round was called due to rain. The Forest City, Iowa native tallied a 36-hole score of 147 to claim top honors. Freshman newcomer, Laurence Herman, and last year's season stroke average leader, Pennapa Pulsawath, tied for second after they posted a score of 148 through 36 holes. Pulsawath recorded the low round of the tournament, firing a 1-under 71 during her first round.
The Cyclones are coming off a strong second-placed finish at the rain-shortened Lady Badger Invitational in Madison.
