OMAHA, Neb. ? The Iowa State swimming and diving team captured first place in seven of 10 events en route to a 122-61 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday evening at the HPER Pool.
Abby Glaser and Marni Benson led the way for ISU, earning first place finishes in three events. Both Glaser and Benson were on top finishing 400 free relay (3:19.46) and 100 medley relay teams (52.05). Benson, a junior from Winona, Minn., also garnered first in the 50 breaststroke by touching the wall at 30.91. Glaser, a sophomore from Ellburn, Ill., finished first in the 50 fly by posting a time of 26.84.
Freshman Jennifer Vondenkamp took first in two events for the Cyclones. Vondenkamp joined Glaser, Benson and Kalyn Amundsen on the victorious 400 free relay team and also was the top finisher in the 500 free (5:06.59).
Lindsay Wegner was victorious in the 50 back, posting a time of 28.07 to defeat UNO's Jessica LaFave, who swam a 28.96.
Tien Tran dove to a first-place finish on the 1-meter with a 271.00. Kali Fryklund was second with a 246.40.
The Cyclones will be back in action tomorrow as they head to Lincoln, Neb., for a dual against Big 12 foe Nebraska. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
