RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico ? The Iowa State women's golf team saved their best round for last, finishing in 17th place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Coco Beach Golf Course. ISU fired a team score of 306 during Tuesday's final round.

Sixteenth-ranked Alabama moved up from fourth place to win the event with a team score of 880 over 54-holes. The Crimson Tide held onto to defeat No. 27 LSU by three strokes (883) while No. 17 Kent State and No. 30 TCU finished in a tie for third.

The Cyclones were led by sophomore Pennapa Pulsawath, who fired a three-round total of 227 to tie for 41st. Pulsawath and ISU senior Kendra Hanson carded a pair of 76s during Tuesday's final round. Hanson tied for 68th place after tallying a three-round total of 234. Karly Pinder and Laurence Herman closed out the final round by entering the clubhouse with a 76 and 77 in their final rounds. Herman, a Kortrijk, Belgium native, finished in a tie for 74th.

Arkansas' Stacey Lewis, the reigning 2007 NCAA individual champion, took home tournament medalist honors for the third time this spring by shooting a 208 (eight-under par)

ISU will next be in action, March 7-9 when it travels to College Station, Texas to play in “The MO.”
