AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State swimming and diving team will be competing this Friday and Saturday against Kansas at Beyer Hall Pool. In their last four meetings, Kansas has defeated Iowa State; however, the Cyclones will have two days to turn the tide on the Jayhawks.
Last weekend the Cyclones were on the road for a pair of duals defeating Nebraska-Omaha on Friday 122-61 before succumbing to Nebraska on Saturday 190-108.
Against Nebraska, junior Lindsay Wegner delivered two first-place finishes in both the 100 (58.91) and 200 backstroke (2:06.37). Wegner also took first in the 50 backstroke against Nebraska-Omaha (28.07).
Junior Marni Benson captured first in the 200 breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:22.07 against Nebraska. Benson has been a very consistent performer for the Cyclones, swimming her way to seven first-place finishes so far this season.
Taking first on the boards against Nebraska-Omaha was sophomore Tien Tran (271.00), followed closely by junior Kali Fryklund (246.60).
Action commences 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
