Cyclones Finish Day One Against Kansas

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State swimming and diving team concluded day one of the Kansas dual trailing the Jayhawks 109-31.
Kicking off the night for the Cyclones was a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay by Marni Benson, Lindsay Wegner, Abby Glaser, and Frances Calzada (1:47.56).
Wegner continued to swim strong, taking second place in the 50 backstroke (27.74) by less than a second to Kansas' Terri Schramka.
In an exciting finish, Benson and freshman Jeli Nixt tied for second in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 30.69.
Rounding out the swimming events was sophomore Lindsey Behrens, who captured second in the 150 butterfly (1:33.43).
Finishing off day one was the 1-meter dive; coming in second for the Cyclones was sophomore Tien Tran (287.70).
“We're getting exactly what we wanted out of this meet,” said head coach Duane Sorenson. “The whole purpose of this meet is to simulate conferences”
The Cyclones will be concluding this weekend's dual against Kansas Saturday at 10 a.m.
