HOUSTON, Texas- Iowa State divers Tien Tran and Kali Fryklund finished day one of the NCAA Zone D Championships taking 11th and 12th in the 1-meter dive, respectively.
Tran, a sophomore from Greenwood, Ind., was just outside of the top-10 with a score of 486.45, finishing behind Lacey Truelove from the University of Houston, who was four points ahead of Tran.
Junior Kali Fryklund kept pace with Tran throughout the event, finishing in 12th with a score of 466.35.
Fryklund and Tran failed to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter, but still have the 3-meter and platform dive to compete in.
Action resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium with the 3-meter dive.
