AUSTIN, Texas ? The Iowa State women's golf team carded a first round score of 320 on Monday to sit in a tie for seventh place after the first day of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. Senior Kendra Hanson leads the Cyclones and is tied for 11th after firing a 77 in the opening round.
New Mexico holds a two-stroke lead over 5th-ranked Florida and a five-shot lead over tournament host Texas. No. 9 Arkansas and Notre Dame round out the top five. The Cyclones are right in the middle of the pack and have an opportunity to really improve their place, as nine teams are all within six strokes of each other.
Redshirt freshman Victoria Stefansen is in a tie for 24th with a 79 and Pennapa Pulsawath is one stroke back of Stefansen after carding an 80.
Second round action will get underway tomorrow morning starting at 8:15 a.m. from the Texas Golf Club. Live stats will be available courtesy of Golfstat. Results from the second day of Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational will be posted on cyclones.com following the conclusion of the second round.
