WALNUT, Calif.- Iowa State continued its weekend at the Mt. Sac Relays on Thursday night, as Kiel Uhl captured his section of the 5,000-meter run at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Uhl, in his first competition of the outdoor season, cruised to a career-best 14:08.65 in the 5,000-meters to beat runners from Richmond, Tulsa and Colorado. The Des Moines Roosevelt High School alum crushed his former previous best of 14:12.23 and also regionally-qualified with the mark. Jose Mireles of Mexico won the other section of the 5,000-meters with a time of 14:02.43.
ISU continues its performance at the Mt. Sac Relays on Friday. The Cyclones will also compete at the Azusa Pacific Invitational on Friday at the Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, Calif.
