AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State swimming and diving team released its schedule for the 2008-09 season. The schedule is highlighted by six home meets, including a head-to-head contest against Big 12 foe Nebraska.
The Cyclones, who lost just two swimmers to graduation and welcome 12 newcomers to the squad, look to improve on last season's 5-4 record.
The season will open with an intrasquad meet on Friday, Oct. 3, at Beyer Hall. ISU will open regular season competition by hosting Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Cyclones head to Lawrence, Kan., for the Big 12 Relays on Oct. 24, before returning to Ames to host Illinois on Oct. 25. It marks the first meeting for the Cyclones and Illini since the 2004-05 season.
The squad will also host Western Illinois and South Dakota State on Nov. 1, before closing out the home slate with Northern Iowa on Dec. 6, and Nebraska on Jan. 31.
ISU's road schedule is highlighted by a trip to the Nebraska Invitational from Nov. 20-23, and a Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series matchup against Iowa on Dec. 12.
The 2008-09 Big 12 Championships will be held Feb. 25-28, in Columbia, Mo., while the NCAA Championships will be hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, from March 19-21.
