EUGENE, Ore.- Iowa State junior golfer Pennapa Pulsawath advanced to the match play portion of the 2008 United States Women's Amateur Tuesday evening in Eugene, Ore. A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Pulsawath shot a two-round 150 total (74-76) at the Eugene Country Club, tying for 43rd out of 155 of the best amateur golfers in the nation.
Pulsawath is one of 64 competitors to make it to the match play section of the tournament, which begins today. Pulsawath will battle Cindy Lacrosse of Tampa, Fla., at 4 p.m.
Pulsawath, who recorded the second-best single-season stroke average mark in school history last year (76.5), has had an outstanding summer on the links. She qualified for the United States Women's Publinks Tournament and captured the Iowa Women's Amateur title two weeks ago.
