AMES, Iowa- It is off to South Dakota for the Iowa State swimming and diving team this weekend. The Cyclones have a dual meet with the South Dakota Coyotes Friday at 6 p.m. in Vermillion. The next day, ISU squares off with South Dakota State at 1 p.m. in Brookings.
The Cyclones face a unique situation Friday as the Coyotes have a 25-meter competitive pool instead of the traditional 25-yard pool.
“Times are going to be different,” Iowa State head coach Duane Sorenson said. “We have to come out and compete and race smart.”
Iowa State faced both South Dakota schools last year as well. ISU defeated South Dakota 189-106 and downed the Jackrabbits 190.5-47.5. The Cyclones are a combined 6-0 all-time against the two schools.
This is the last meet for the Cyclone swimmers until their trip to the Northwestern Invitational Nov. 20-22. The divers do not compete again until the Missouri Invitational Dec. 4-6.
“We will be swimming our swimmers in their third event because they can swim three individual events at the invitational,” Sorenson said. “We are looking for good technique both in stroke and race strategy.”
