AMES, Iowa - The third-ranked Iowa State wrestlers return home Friday to take on No. 12 Minnesota as part of the Beauty and the Beast event. ISU then hits the road for their final dual of the year at fourth-ranked Nebraska Sunday.

? No. 3 ISU hosts Minnesota Friday in the Beauty and the Beast promotion. ISU's wrestlers
and gymnasts will compete simultaneously against Gopher teams in Hilton Coliseum.
? The second-ranked Cyclones beat UT-Chattanoogs 37-6 Feb. 13 but lost at No. 5
Missouri, 18-15 in Columbia Sunday, forfeiting the 133-pound match in both duals.
? The third-ranked Cyclones turned away Big 12 foes Oklahoma and Oklahoma
State Jan. 23 and Jan. 25 in Hilton Coliseum. ISU handled the Sooners 23-15
and beat the Cowboys 24-12. Returning All-American Nick Fanthorpe (133) injury
defaulted in the OU dual and ISU forfeited his weight against OSU.
? No. 3 Iowa State won at Oregon State Jan. 18 in Gill Coliseum, 29-6. The
Cyclones won eight of the ten contested matches.
? ISU is currently ranked 4/3 in the Intermat/NWCA and W.I.N. Magazine polls, respectively.
? Iowa State returns six grapplers who earned All-America honors at last year's
NCAA Championships: Nick Fanthorpe (133), Nick Gallick (141), Cyler Sanderson

? ISU's victory last season snapped a string of four-straight losses to

? Head coach Cael Sanderson and the Cyclones have yet to drop a dual to the Huskers

? Nebraska (17-2-1) is coming off wins out East against UNC-Greensboro (43- -1)
and North Carolina (24-15).
? NU is currently led in wins by senior 184-pounder Vince Jones, who has a 28-6 record.
? Nebraska's 157-pounder Jordan Burroughs is 27-0 and ranked fi rst in the nation
by W.I.N. Magazine.
? The Huskers are undefeated in their regular season Big 12 dual slate, with wins
over Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Zabriskie Wins, ISU Falls to Missouri
? No. 2 Iowa State forfeited the 133-pound weight class to No. 5 Missouri and it
proved to be the difference at the Hearnes Center Sunday, as the Tigers scored
an 18-15 victory. The win lifted Missouri to 18-4 in dual competition. ISU falls to
13-3. Iowa State held a 5-4 edge in the contested matches. The Cyclones were
paced by the winning efforts of No. 2-ranked heavyweight David Zabriskie and
No. 1 ranked 197-pounder Jake Varner, as well as victories at 125, 149 and 184
pounds.
? It was Zabriskie's second match this season against a No. 1-ranked heavyweight.
The Cyclone big man was victorious once again. In a matchup against top-rated
Mark Ellis of Mizzou, the second-ranked Zabriskie edged the Tiger in extra time,
2-1 (TB1). Zabriskie was tireless in wearing down Ellis throughout the match
and broke free from the Tiger's grasp in the fi rst tie-breaker period to secure the
victory. Zabriskie is now 26-2 this season. Ellis falls to 25-2.
? ISU's Varner notched another quality victory on his season slate by controlling
Missouri's Maxwell Askren by a score of 9-4. The top-ranked Cyclone used three
takedowns in the fi rst-period to power his way past the fourth-ranked Missouri
wrestler. Varner, a Bakersfi eld, Calif. native, improves to 23-1 this season.
No. 2 ISU Routs UT-Chattanooga Wrestlers, 37-6
? Before the wrestling match between No. 2 Iowa State and Tennessee-
Chattanooga in Hilton Coliseum, Cyclone fans gave Moc head coach Chris Bono
and UT-Chattanooga assistant coach Nate Gallick, a round of recognition worthy
of two former Iowa State national champions. It was all downhill from there for
the visitors. Iowa State won the nine contested weight classes in a 37-6 rout that
improved the Cyclones to 13-2 overall in dual competition.
