Cyclones Jon Reader (165), Jerome Ward (184) and heavyweight Dave Zabriskie made sure the six forfeited points didn't matter as No. 3 ISU turned back the Cowboys, 24-12 in Hilton Coliseum.
? A crowd of 3,177 saw the Cyclones improve to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 competition. ISU won seven of the 10 contested weights and recorded 12 takedowns to OSU's five. ISU has won two straight duals against the Cowboys at Hilton. The Cyclones have taken three of the last four duals against OSU. Fanthorpe missed the match after injury defaulting in the Cyclones' 23-15 win over No. 11 Oklahoma Friday.
No. 3 ISU Wrestlers Handle No. 11 Oklahoma
? No. 3 Iowa State was able to overcome an early deficit to down 11th-ranked Oklahoma Jan. 23 at Hilton Coliseum, 23-15. ISU won six out of the 10 contested weights. The Cyclone come-from-behind victory was powered by strong bonus-point performances by Cyclone middleweights Cyler Sanderson (157) and Jon Reader (165). Cyclone Jake Varner , the top 197-pounder in the nation, chipped in his own bonus points for the team to improve his personal record to 19-1 this season. ISU totaled 24 takedowns to OU's five in the dual.
