IRVING, Texas - Iowa State sophomore Jon Reader was named the Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition from February 2-8. This is Reader's first career weekly award, as he is the first conference wrestler in the 165-pound weight class chosen this season.
Reader's performance capped No. 2 Iowa State's win over No. 21 Northern Iowa (26-9) over the weekend at Hilton Coliseum. He improved to 2-1 all-time against Moza Fay (Northern Iowa), edging the fourth-ranked grappler, 4-2. The Cyclone used a reversal and takedown in the third period to overpower his opponent. An All-America selection a year ago, Reader stands 11-3 in duals and 21-4 overall on the season.
