Reader to Wrestle at Pan Am Championships

AMES, Iowa ? Jon Reader, a two-time All-American for the Iowa State wrestling team, has been selected to represent the United States at the 2009 Pan American Championships in Maracaibo, Venezuela April 23-25. He will compete for the freestyle team at 74 kilograms (163 pounds).
The U.S. teams were selected based on results from the U.S. Senior Nationals in Las Vegas, Nev., April 9-11. The national champion at each weight was given the first opportunity to join the team. The subsequent placewinners of each weight were extended invitations until the position was filled. Every weight in all three styles has one U.S. representative.
Reader placed fifth in the 74-kilogram division at the U.S. Senior Nationals. He concluded the collegiate wrestling season with a fourth-place finish at 165 pounds at the 2009 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
The Pan American Championships features nations from North America, Central American and South America.
