AMES, Iowa ? Three Iowa State women's golfers were selected to the 2009 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team, announced today by the Big 12 Conference. First-team honors were given to Laurence Herman, a sophomore in Business from Kortrijkm, Belgium, and Rachel Reed, a sophomore in Elementary Education, from Peoria, Ill.
Joining both Herman and Reed was sophomore Victoria Stefansen, who garnered second-team honors. A total of 45 women's golfers were selected from all 12 schools after being nominated by their respective institution's director of student-athlete support services and media relations offices.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and also must have participated in at least 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. First-team members consist of those with a 3.20 GPA or higher, and members of the second team maintained a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
