AMES, Iowa ?The Iowa State track and field team will be competing at different events this weekend, but their mindset will be in the same place. Most of the team will travel to Des Moines for the Jim Duncan Invitational, while others will make the trek to Tempe, Ariz. for the Sun Angel Track Classic.
Jim Duncan Invitational Preview
The Jim Duncan Invitational is the precursor to the Drake Relays in Drake Stadium, and will take place this Friday and Saturday. Daniel Murray will be the lone Cyclone competing Friday in the 5,000-meter at 8:05 p.m. Saturday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the men's discus throw.

Highlighting the field competition for the Cyclones Saturday will be Zac Brouillette in the men's hammer throw at 12:30 p.m. Brouillette recently broke the school record in the hammer throw (193-04) at the Raleigh Relays on March 28. Sophomore Luke Pinkelman will be competing in the men's shot put at 4 p.m. Pinkelman finished second in the shot put at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships (59-08.75) and will be looking for a personal best this weekend. Freshman Laishema Hampton will be competing in the women's hammer throw at 5 p.m.
Highlighting the track competition in Des Moines will be juniors Paige Ties and Kaylee Small in the women's 1,500-meter run at 11:10 a.m., followed by freshman Yonas Mebrahtu, senior Jory Zunich and sophomore Clayton Carper in the men's 1,500-meter run at 11:30 a.m.
Sun Angel Track Classic Preview
The 30th Sun Angel Track Classic will take place this Friday and Saturday, at the Joe Selleh Track at Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. Cyclones will also be competing in the Mesa Classic on Friday in Mesa, Ariz. Flotrack.com will be on site to broadcast the Sun Angel Track Classic and will provide video highlights and interviews on their website throughout the competition.

Cyclones will be competing on both days of the Sun Angel Track Classic. Junior Lashawn Wright is entered in the 100-meter dash premier heat at 7:04 p.m. on Saturday. Wright is coming of a personal record-setting mark of (11.70) at the Stanford Invitational on March 28. The junior is also competing in the 200-meter dash premier heat at 5:13 p.m. on Saturday.
Junior Jenna Caffrey will be competing in the 100-meter hurdles at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, along with freshman Jordon Andreassen and sophomore Myranda Casterline. Senior James Galvan will be competing in the 800-meter run at 5:54 p.m. on Saturday. He will be running the premier heat.
