NEW ORLEANS ? Iowa State hurdler Jenna Caffrey and distance-runner Lisa Koll were named to the 2009 USTFCCCA Division I Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team. This is the third time that both of them have earned the honor in their careers.
Caffrey, a Burlington native, qualified for the 100-hurdles at the NCAA Championships last month. She also earned a fifth place finish at the Big 12 Championships in the event. Caffrey is an adult family services major.
Koll, a Fort Dodge native, finished ninth at the NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meter run. Koll earned the Big 12 title in 10,000 and 5,000-meter runs, earning the Outstanding Performer of the Year honors. Koll is enrolled in ISU's Veterinary Medicine school.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
