AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State swimming and diving team and head coach Duane Sorenson released its schedule for the 2009-10 season Tuesday. The Cyclones will host three home meets this season, including the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk series meeting against Iowa on Dec. 11 at Beyer Pool.
Along with hosting the Hawkeyes, ISU will also host conference foes Missouri on Jan. 23 and Kansas on Feb. 5-6.
The road schedule begins Oct. 16 with the Big 12 Relays in Columbia, Mo.
The Cyclones will then face three opponents in two days with a double-dual meet against Illinois State and Evansville on Oct. 23 and Illinois the following afternoon. Iowa State will be looking to avenge a close loss to Illinois last season.
ISU heads to South Dakota to face the University of South Dakota on Oct. 30 before a Halloween matchup with South Dakota State.
The Cyclone swimmers will compete at the Northwestern Invitational Nov. 20-22 before heading to Cedar Falls for a double-dual meet with Northern Iowa and UW-Green Bay on Dec. 5. This will be the first meeting between ISU and UW-Green Bay since 1998. The divers will compete at the Missouri Invitational from Dec. 4-6.
ISU finishes its road dual schedule with a trip through Nebraska. Iowa State will take on Nebraska-Omaha Jan. 30 before meeting up with Big 12 foe Nebraska the following day. Iowa State narrowly missed knocking off the Huskers last season, falling by a margin of 156-144.
The Cyclones cap off the season with the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 24-27 in College Station, Texas. College Station will also host NCAA Zone Diving Qualifications from March 12-14.
The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. from March 18-20.
The season kicks off Oct. 9 with the annual intra squad meet.
