OMAHA, Neb.- The Iowa State swimming and diving team won six of the nine competed events in a relay-only meet Friday night en route to an 80-55 win over Nebraska-Omaha Friday night.
The win was Iowa State's school-record eighth dual meet victory of the season, surpassing the seven win total earned by the 1981-82 team and 2001-02 squads.
The Cyclones earned victories in the first five races of the meet, led off by a 200-medley relay victory by Megan Thompson, Marley Suckow, Nan Liu and Sarah Norris. In the 850 free relay, junior Johanna Wubbena collected her first victory wearing an ISU cap. The Boise State transfer was joined by Dani Harris, Jenny Vondenkamp and Chelsea Tomek to pick up the win.
Freshman Tiana Wollin also picked up her first career victory on Friday night as a member of the 300 fly relay team. Wollin was joined by Meredith Doran and Mandi Caudle in the win. All three collected their first victories of the season in the event. Thompson, Tomek and Vondenkamp teamed up for their second victories of the night in the 300 back relay.
Junior Kalyn Amundsen collected her first career event win when swimming the breaststroke as a member of the 300 breast relay team. She was joined by Jeli Nixt and Suckow for the win. The final Iowa State win came courtesy of Abby Glaser, Liu and Nixt in the 300 medley relay.
The Cyclones will have a Big 12 dual meet with the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 1 p.m. Saturday.
